Introduction

This script takes the calculated factors following two approaches to calculating the animal water footprint applied to the cattle population estimated from the MCTI (2020) method considering the following approaches to estimate the population breakdown: + IBGE Census (2006) (with and without dairy cows) (MCTI/Census approach) + Anualpec (2017) (with dairy cows) (Anuapec approach)

Note that the factors are good for the 2010-2019 period as they rely on the average state level air Tmean (mean temperature), Tmax (maximum temperature) and RH (realtive humidity).

In each case, there are two animal water use estimates:

  1. labeled Ridoutt et al., using the method from Ridoutt et al. (2012) (there is no difference from feed moisture content when the total are converted to m3 per year)
  2. labeled Zanetti et al., using the method from Zanetti et al. (2019) to derive cattle drinking water (there is a high (75%) and low (50%)

We also separate the total amount of water use for cattle with and without bulls to derive water use of production and consumption (we assume that bulls will not be slaughtered to beef in our research).

We also remove municipality where water use == 0 to avoid problems later on when merging with other indicators.

The ultimate result for the research will be based on Zanetti et al. but we still calculate both estimates to understand ranges based on assumptions.
